Who is this workshop suitable for?

You must be aged 14 – 25 years old to attend this workshop. Ideally you should be a member of the Football Futures Programme (see below details on how to sign up to this programme if interested).
It is aimed at coaches of any level working with young players or those that are interested in getting into coaching youth football.

What does Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) mean?

Teaching games for understanding is a method used to teach children through modified games, in a play based environment.

What is the aim of the workshop?

To give candidates a better understanding of how to use modified games to promote learning within their coaching sessions. You will be introduced to the theory behind the TGfU concept, plus shown practical demonstrations of this.

What is the format of the workshop?

The first hour will be a theory session indoors and then the second hour will be a practical session demonstrating the theory learned.

What do I need to bring?

Please wear sportswear and footwear suitable for a 3G pitch if you are able to take part in the practical part of the workshop (it is recommended that you take part in the practical, but it is not essential if you are unable to due to injury/illness). You may also like to bring a pen and pad of paper with you if you would like to make notes during the theory session.
