CPD- Disability Talent ID Workshop
Brand new CPD workshop hosted between Surrey FA, Middlesex FA and London FA to raise awareness of the Disability Talent Pathway and upskill coaches in identifying potential future England players.
We are delighted to announce that in May, three County FAs will be hosting a two-part CPD series in conjunction with the West London Disability Talent Hub and the Regional Emerging Talent Programme.
On Sunday 19th May and Thursday 30th May we will be running two unique CPD workshops that are open to all coaches regardless of their current involvement in Disability Football. FA staff will be delivering this 2 part series where participants will be given key information to increase their knowledge on the type of player who may be eligible for the talent pathway and will have a rare chance to observe talent players who are part of both the West London Talent Hub, and later observe the Regional Emerging Talent Programme in action.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to speak to coaches on the programme, and hear from Alistair Patrick-Heselton, an ex-Paralympian who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2017 and was at QPR FC before embarking on his involvement within CP football.
The role of mainstream coaches cannot be underestimated in the Talent ID process. There are an estimated 6% of players within mainstream leagues that are eligible for an England Disability Team. Who knows, there may be a future England International currently playing in your team that currently doesn’t know about the opportunity to represent their country!
Professional coaches, teachers and club administrators are also invited to attend this workshop which will cover the following:
• Player pathway
• Age, stage and classification
• Eligibility and classification
• Recognise talent/potential
• International game format
• Referral process
• What can you do to help?
• Action planning
All participants will receive 3 hours CDP hours for Part 1, and 4.5 CPD hours for Part 2 (7.5 hours total if attend both sessions).
