Online Safeguarding Recertification

To date, over 375,000 people have been through an FA Learning Safeguarding Children Education Programme, therefore helping to create a more fun and safe environment for children in football. This interactive Online Course will allow you to renew your Safeguarding Certificate from your computer.  This will extend the validity of your face-to-face safeguarding course for another three years.

Course Information:

  • Course Duration: 2 hours
  • Course Prerequisites: Safeguarding Children Workshop
  • Who is it for: For anyone who has completed an FA Safeguarding Children Course. It is recommended that everyone renews this course every three years. A Current FA Learning Safeguarding Course or Safeguarding recertification course is mandatory for all FA Learning Tutors, FACA members and members of the new FA Licensed Coaches Club.
  • Course aims and objectives: The course is designed to raise awareness of best practice in safeguarding children in football and to ensure that everyone recognises their moral and legal responsibilities when working with children. It supports participants to create fun, safe and positive football environments, ensuring that people know how to report a concern about a child's welfare. The course supports The FA's strategic goals to raise standards across the game and demonstrates our capacity to be trusted to lead. It also updates participants on changes in the law and best practice guidelines.

Course Content:

The course consists of 5 modules, which you can do in your own time. You can come back to the course and complete it at a later date if you do not have time.

Over the past few years there have been some significant changes, which are covered in this course including:

  • New Legislation
  • Criminal Record Bureau enhanced checks for all those with access to children.
  •  New best practice guidelines on recruitment, celebrating youth football through photography, film and travel, trips and tournaments.

Accessing the Course:

The course is accessed via the members’ services section of your County FA website. Once you have registered for the course, you will receive an email explaining how to log on to the course. If you have any difficulty registering, or with the course, please email OnlineCourseQuery@TheFA.com

Once you have finished the course, you will be sent a certificate. To make sure that your address details are correct, please log in here. Your certificate should reach you within four weeks of completion. If you have not received your certificate in this time, please email us at the address above.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS COURSE IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR THOSE AIMING AT RECERTIFYING THEIR EXSISTING FA SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN CERTIFICATE.

It is NOT available for:

  • people who have never completed a face-to-face, three-hour FA Safeguarding Children Workshop before
  • people whose most recent recertification was via the TMG check sheet renewal process, and haven't attended a face-to-face FA Safeguarding Children workshop in approximately six years

Recertification can only be completed once before attending a new FA Safeguarding Children workshop is required. If you need an FA Safeguarding Children Certificate, please contact your local County FA to attend a workshop soon in your area.
