Course Information:

  • Minimum Age: 16
  • Course Duration: 6.45 hours
  • Course Prerequisites: Qualified Teacher or has a minimum 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football
  • Course aims and objectives:
    • To increase understanding of the requirements of the Physical Education National Curriculum.
    • To demonstrate the place that football can offer, to deepen that understanding in relation to the teaching of games.
    • To improve the quality of learning and teaching in PE and games through a range of progressive and challenging activities and games.
    • To develop methods of planning to incorporate both formative and summative assessment opportunities.
    • To be able to plan and deliver appropriate activities that fulfill National Curriculum PE requirements.
    • To understand The FA 4 Corners Long Term player Development Model.
    • To be able to deliver safe and constructive warm ups and cool downs based on FUNdamental movements.

Course Content:

Theory: The course will introduce some key aspects in the following:

    • 10 outcomes of HQ PE
    • FA LTPD 4 corner model
    • Creating a well-rounded physically educated footballer
    • Planning for Effective Teaching and Learning in Football Lessons
    • Creating a stimulating learning environment]
    • Assessment
    • Planning for effective football lessons

Practical: Practical elements of the course will provide an introduction to:

    • Fundamental warm up
    • Practical delivery of football as an invasion game inc STEP

Practical Involvement: Candidates will be encouraged to participate practically to maximise their opportunities for learning. (This however will not prevent successful completion of the award)

Assessment: Candidates will be formatively assessed throughout the course.

Refresher: No refresher required.
