Manchester FA Futsal Referee Course

FA REFEREES’ COURSE INFORMATION

Overview

The FA Referees’ Course provides an introduction to officiating 11v11 and 9v9 football. The course will introduce learners to The Laws of Association Football and their application, delivered through theory and practical elements and focussing on the knowledge, skills and attributes required to operate safely and effectively in grass roots football.

Course Structure

Unit 1:   Pre-course learning (2 hours)

Unit 2:   On-course theory and practical (7 hours)

Unit 3:   On-course theory and practical (3 hours)

Unit 4:   On-course theory and practical (7 hours)

Unit 5:   Referee five matches

Unit 6:   On-course final assessment (2 hours)

Course Content

Through a mixture of theory and practical activity, learners will cover:

  1. Effective communication
  2. Positioning and movement
  3. Penalty kick and free kick management
  4. Managing re-starts
  5. Advantage
  6. Managing players
  7. Recognising and dealing with foul challenges
  8. Cautioning and sending-off procedure
  9. Offside
  10. Dealing with substitutions
  11. Dealing with injuries


Minimum Age

Learners must be 14 or over on the course start date.

Safeguarding Requirements

Before refereeing their five matches (unit 5), leaners must have complied with the FA’s safeguarding requirements.

Qualification

Upon successful completion of units 1-6, learners will be classified as either a Level Y referee (if aged 14 or 15) or a Level 7 referee (if aged 16 or over).  The FA refereeing qualification is awarded only when all 6 units have been successfully completed.

Please Note - All candidates MUST complete FA Safeguarding Training (and a DBS Check if age 16+) prior to attending the Futsal Referee Course. Any associated costs are included in the course fee.


Further information regarding pre-course learning and how to access Safeguarding training will be sent out in advance of the Futsal Referee Course. 


The course fee also excludes an FA Referee Kit which must be purchased at an additional cost.


How to Apply


1)     Do you have a FAN?


  • No: Please use the ‘Don’t have a FAN number?’ function below to create a FAN. Once you have submitted your details in the pop-up box, you will receive a confirmation email which will include your newly created FAN. You will need to create a FAN before you book onto any of our courses online or via phone or email with Manchester FA,
  • Yes: Please log in and make payment online to enrol
  • Please Note: If you have been involved in grassroots football, it is likely you already have a FAN. Please check whether you have a FAN. If you have FORGOTTEN YOUR FAN DO NOT CREATE A NEW ONE. Your qualifications will be split across different profiles and it may harm your ability to enrol on courses in future.


2)     
Enrolment/Payment:


  • Online: Please log in online using your FAN and password. You can enrol and make your payment online. This is the easiest and most convenient way for candidates to register on all courses. It is important that your FAN and password are correct as you need to complete online modules as part of some of your courses.

  • Please Note: Payment MUST be taken before candidates can be registered onto courses. Once payment has been confirmed, your place will be secured. If your club has been invoiced, please ensure this payment is paid 7 DAYS prior to the start date, otherwise your place will NOT be confirmed and your place may be surrendered.

Terms & Conditions

Please ensure that prior to booking on any course with Manchester F.A that you read and understand the information below:

1)     None Attendance:

  • You are required to ATTEND ALL COURSE DATES.
  • If you do not attend all course dates, you will LOSE YOUR PAYMENT.
  • You will not be permitted to TRANSFER to a future course.
  • You will be REQUIRED TO PAY THE FULL AMOUNT AGAIN TO RE-ENROL.
  • If you miss part of the course due to ILLNESS, a DOCTOR’S NOTE will be required as evidence for us to consider a transfer.

2)     Covid-19 Policy:

The policy outlined below will cover candidates who either test positive for Covid-19 immediately before or during the course commencing, or who miss the course delivery dates as a result of being advised by the NHS that they must self-isolate.

  • A refund is not available when cancelling a booked course WITHIN 7 DAYS of its commencement. No circumstances considered.
  • If you wish to transfer WITHIN 7 DAYS of the course commencement, a transfer will not be processed until you are replaced on the course by another person.
  • Please ensure you are available for any alternative date as you may LOSE YOUR PAYMENT if you cannot attend the rearranged date.
  • If no other person can replace you on a course that you wish to transfer from then you may LOSE YOUR PAYMENT.
  • If no alternative dates are available for you to transfer, and you cannot attend the course you originally booked on to WITHIN 7 DAYS of the course commencement then you may LOSE YOUR PAYMENT.
