Course Requirements

  • The course involves practical sessions which will take place outside on either grass or 3G football pitches. Learners will need to be prepared with suitable clothing and footwear for outdoor work, including waterproof clothing in case of inclement weather.

  • Learners will need to bring their own food, water and refreshments.

  • Prior to each date of the course, learners must complete a self-screening Covid-19 questionnaire form. The link to do so will be provided ahead of the course start.

  • Learners must follow all Covid-19 protocols. This includes a temperature check on arrival; scanning the NHS Test & Trace QR code; following social distancing requirements; movement to follow the signage in place and adopting good hygiene procedures.

Safeguarding and FA DBS Checks

Learners who intend to referee youth football matches will need to have an in-date FA DBS check, in addition to completion of the Safeguarding Children Course. We will provide instructions on how to apply online for a DBS before the course begins.

Youth football includes competitions or matches involving under 18 teams or younger. Referees in open age football are not required to have a DBS although this may be subject to change in the future. They are required to have completed the Safeguarding Children Course.

Parental Consent

If parental consent is not given, the learner will not be able to attend the face-to-face elements of the course.
