Course Information:

  • Minimum Age: 14
  • Course Duration: 6.5 hours
  • Course aims and objectives:
    • To provide an understanding of leading and organising football events for young players
    • To learn the theory and practical aspects of warming up and cooling down
    • To understand safety considerations when organising football sessions
    • To understand practical delivery aspects of sessions, planning and using resource cards
    • To introduce mini-soccer games/rules
    • To understand what happens next for players and leaders

Course Content:

Theory: The course will introduce some key aspects in the following:

    • Preparing to play
    • Fundamental movement skills
    • Safety and Safeguarding children
    • Refereeing mini-soccer
    • STEP principle (Space, Task, Equipment, People)
    • Basic introduction to the FA LTPD 4 Corner model
    • Organising festivals or mini-tournaments
    • FA Leadership and Volunteering programme

Practical: Practical elements of the course will provide an introduction to:

    • Fundamental warm up
    • Game related activites for 5-11 year olds
    • Refereeing mini-soccer

Practical Involvement: Candidates will be encouraged to participate practically to maximise their opportunities for learning. (This however will not prevent successful completion of the award)

Assessment: Candidates will be formatively assessed throughout the course.

Refresher: No refresher required.

The course will take place on 18 February 2010 from 10.00 a.m. until 4.30 p.m. at Lancashire FA Headquarters.

The course will run as follows -

Theory & Practical Session

Thursday 18th February 2010          10.00 am - 4.30pm

 

Ø      Plan & deliver a safe session and event for children

Ø      Identify football skills

Ø      Lead basic football skills practices and progress skills into mini soccer

Ø      Introduce mini soccer rules/session rules

Ø      Identify exit routes for young people

Ø      Be able to organise and referee a football festival

Ø      Be aware of child protection/safety issues

 

 

As the practical part of the course will be held outside, suitable clothing and footwear for astro turf will be required.  A notebook and pen are also advisable.
