Workshops
When are we having a match?
Delivered by Ben Wells, current Watford FC CSE Trust School Sport Manager and former FA Skills Coach (specialising in working with 5-11yr olds), this workshop will provide coaches with an array of ideas for delivering practices that maximise touches and player development. Aimed at coaches working in the Foundation Phase but also adaptable to the Youth Development Phase, Ben will be able to show different types of small sided games focusing on how to differentiate amongst your squad.
The Match Day Experience
In this workshop, Jo Williams will aim to explore some of the challenges faced by coaches on a match day but also, the opportunities that it presents in terms of the following key aspects:
- Linking training to a match day.
- Supporting the learning and enjoyment of the players.
- How to plan, deliver and reflect effectively in relation to match day.
Coaches will be able to leave the workshop with some thinking and planning tools to support them on a matchday; BEFORE and DURING the match day.
Coaching the Teenage Player
Delivered by Jackie Bushell, this workshop will give coaches a better understanding of the Teenage Brain and the feelings/ emotions that players may be going through during the Youth Development Phase. She will highlight how the imbalance between the thinking and feeling brain can impact behaviour on and off the pitch and will provide strategies for coaches to utilise/support players through the Youth Development Phase. Whilst aimed at coaches working in the Youth Development Phase it will also prepare those coaches in the Foundation Phase of what to expect in a few years!
Supporting yours and your players mental health
Sak Rafique will deliver a presentation on how you can support your own mental health and how doing so will benefit the players you work with mental health and performance.
Players will be provided for practical delivery but please ensure you come appropriately dressed to observe outside and participate in discussion inside.
Please note workshops are not sold separately, one ticket covers all workshops/presentations.
