First Aid For Sport
This course will provide candidates with knowledge and understanding of first aid, sufficient to be able to offer appropriate care and manage a range of illnesses and injuries sustained in sport.
This course offers the opportunity for those involved in sport to provide quality and effective first aid care, achieved through an understanding of general duties, responsibilities and treatment principles of first aid.
On successful completion of the course candidates should be able to:
· Describe the duties, responsibilities, general treatment principles and priorities of a first aid provision
· Demonstrate an understanding of basic anatomy and physiology in relation to first aid.
· Describe the elements of pre-event preparation in relation to first aid provision.
· Provide logical initial assessments and appropriate use of barriers and infection control
· Recognise and respond to the signs and symptoms of common illness.
· Recognise and respond to the signs and systems of common injuries.
Assessments:
· Completion of an internal assessment of candidate?s application of knowledge and understanding via three practical scenarios
· An externally assessed written paper
Minimum requirements: FA Emergency Aid Certificate
The First Aid for Sport course is three full days of tutoring and attendance on all three dates is crucial to the course.
