Course Information:

  • Minimum Age: 16
  • Course Duration: 7 hours
  • Course Prerequisites: Minimum 1st4sport Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football
  • Who is it for: The Course is open to all interested candidates although only those holding an existing FA Coaching qualification can be certified.
  • Course aims and objectives: The course provides an introduction to the FIFA Small Sided Game of Fustal and by the end of the course Candidates should be able to:
      • Understand and appreciate the fundamentals of Futsal
      • Organise and coach the basic skills and techniques of Futsal
      • Understand the basic principle of attack and defence of Futsal
      • Appreciate the 'Laws of the Game' of Futsal

Course Content:

Theory:
The course will introduce some key aspects in the following:

      • History and background of Futsal
      • Introducing the game - The Futsal Court
      • Skills, techniques, tactics, formations - video analysis of International Futsal
      • The FA's Futsal development programme

Theory: Practical elements of the course will provide an introduction to:

      • Laws of Futsal and difference from domestic 5-a-side
      • Techniques of Futsal - Passing, control, moving/running with the ball, dribbling, and maintaining possession, shooting, basic defending.
      • GK techniques - (Shot Stopping, Throws, distribution, GK Playing as an Outfielder)
      • Basic Team Shape and player responsibilities
      • Offensive principles
      • Defensive Principles
      • Set pieces

Practical Involvement: Candidates will be encouraged to participate practically to maximise their opportunities for learning (This however will not prevent successful completion of the award).
