Course Information:

  • Minimum Age: 14 years
  • Course Duration: 3 hours
  • Who is it for: This course is for individuals to understand the benefits of playing 9v9 and small-sided games for the development of young footballers 
  • Course aims and objectives: The aim of this course is to provide candidates with an introduction to the benefits and virtues of 9v9 and small-sided games for skill and technique development. It will also provide candidates with an introduction to the structure of 9v9 games, the laws and the differences in comparison to mini-soccer and the 11v11 format

Course Content:

  • Introduction to the basic techniques related to coaching young footballers 
  • Outline the 9v9 Laws of the Game 
  • Develop an understanding of small-sided games and 9v9 in the development of young players 

Practical Involvement: Candidates will be encouraged to participate practically to maximise their opportunities for learning. (This however will not prevent successful completion of the award)

Assessment: There is no formal assessment.

Refresher: No refresher required.
