'Futsal' the small sided version of the beautiful game?
How did players such as Ronaldinho, Robinho and Roberto Carlos develop skills that set them apart from other players?
The answer is simple, they played Futsal. Futsal is the format of Small Sided Football that is recognised and supported by FIFA & UEFA and the Worcestershire Football Association is pleased to provide details of this year's Men's County Futsal League.
Futsal is a five-a-side game, played with hockey sized goals and a smaller ball with a reduced bounce. As a small-sided game (5 v 5) players are constantly placed in situations where they must receive or play whilst under pressure or in confined spaces and it places considerable demand on technique, movement, tactical awareness and fitness.
What to Expect:
The County Futsal League will run over 8 weeks with a maximum of 8 teams participating (so apply early to avoid disappointment). However please note that teams will not be required to attend each week, only on the evenings that your team has fixtures to fulfil. The league has been administered this way for logistical reasons to make effective use of time for each team participating (i.e. 2 - 3 fixtures per evening over 5 weeks, as opposed to one fixture a week over 8 weeks). The winning team may have the opportunity to represent the County in the Regional Qualifying Competition for the FA Futsal Cup.
How Do I apply?:
Complete the TEAM APPLICATION FORM and return to the Worcestershire FA
(on-line applications available).
- Cost: Entry fee is £60 per team (one off payment, no other charges apply)
- Date & Time: Starts Friday 9th April & concludes Friday 28th May (6.30pm to 9.30pm)
- Venue: King George 'V' Playing Fields, Brickfields, Worcester, WR4 9TL (3G Astroturf)
- Team Logistics: Squad of 12 Players (Team of 5)
What Happens next?:
Upon receiving your application the named team secretary will be contacted immediately (via phone or e-mail) to confirm that your application has been approved and your team has been allocated a place within the league. Please Note: There are limited team spaces available - apply early to avoid disappointment.
Following this acceptance, the named team secretary will receive a futsal league information pack which will include; a set of competition rules, a futsal fact sheet (laws of the game), FA Respect code of conduct and a set of league fixtures.
