 Course Information:

  • Minimum Age: 18
  • Course Duration: 27 hours
  • Course Prerequisites: 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in the Treatment and Management of Injury in Sport
  • Who is it for: For those who have successfully completed the Level 2 Certificate in the Treatment and Management of Injury in Sport, this more advanced course offer further training in specific lower and upper limb injuries, the recognition and basic assessment of injuries and the treatment and management of injured players.
  • Course aims and objectives: To expand on the Level 2 course as a base for the recognition and differentiation of minor from major in order to offer sensible injury advice, management and be able to treat common basic injuries or to refer the player to a more skilled practitioner at a higher level.

Course Content: This course will cover the following subjects:    

      • Bones
        • The major bones of the shoulder, arm, pelvis, thigh, leg and foot.
      • Joints
        • Shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle.
      • Muscles
        • The main muscles of the shoulder, upper chest and back, upper arm, thigh, groin, and lower leg.
      • Surface and practical anatomy of all the above.
      • The principles and practice of injury evaluation.
      • Signs, symptoms and treatment for a range of common upper and lower leg injuries.
      • Treatment and management of soft tissue injuries
        • The various phases of injury treatment and rehabilitation
        • Aims, objectives and priorities
        • Thermal treatment methods
        • Exercise therapy
        • Functional rehabilitation
      • Foot care
      • Fitness for Football
        • Components of fitness
        • Training principles

Practical Involvement: The course contains content of a practical and functional nature, given this participants should be in good general health. Students should appreciate that the course contains practical components where they will work with other course members (models) for palpation and anatomical identification to maximize learning.

Assessment:
        
1. Candidates must have evidence of having undergone awareness training in the protection of children from abuse via The FA Safeguarding Children Workshop.
        2. Observation of tasks demonstrating practical understanding of all 3 units of the qualification.
        3. A final, independently assessed, 45 minute short answer paper covering all 3 units of the qualification.
      
Re-assessment: Those candidates who are unsuccessful in their initial assessment can be re-assessed within the 12 month period from their registration on the course.

Sun 11 October Practical/Viva/Final Assessment 9.30am - 4.30pm
