Awarded by the FA, this short 3 hour course is designed to explore the  role of a grassroots football club Welfare Officer and to clarify the support  networks for designated individuals in football. The course supports the FA’s strategic goal to raise standards across the game.

Pre-requisites: FA Safeguarding  Children qualification & FA CRC (The CRC process should be started before  the course starts)

Who is this course  for?

This course is open to anyone wishing to  take up the position of Welfare Officer at a football club or league. You must  be at least 18 year of age and have completed your Safeguarding Children in  Football qualification and have started your FA CRC process. You will have a  keen interest in helping to implement best practice processes at your club /  league and have an understanding of how to support others in the safeguarding  network.

What can I expect from the  course?

3 hours in duration, managed by an  experienced and fully qualified FA Welfare Tutor, the course format is classroom  based and will provide you with the tools you need to carry out your role as a  Welfare Officer. 

On completion of the course, you will  have/be able to; 

  • An understanding of the Club Welfare role  and responsibilities
  • An understanding of the responsibilities  of others in the safeguarding support network
  • Identify the club / league building blocks  required to demonstrate best practice in relation to safeguarding
  • Have confidence to act upon concerns of  poor practice
  • Pass on concerns of possible abuse within  and outside of a football environment
  • Understand the CRM process and  communication of the process to relevant personnel within your club /  league
