Steve Lilley – ‘Postage Stamp’ Coaching & Session Design – Linking Players to Units to Teams
| Steve’s background is in Youth Development and teaching. He has been combining these skills and experiences to deliver Coach Education courses for the FA for the last 12 years, and more recently has spent 5 years overseeing Coach Ed in Gloucestershire, before the County Coach Development programme came to an end. An A Licence coach, Steve continues to tutor UEFA B courses for the FA, and his passion is Coach Development in the Grassroots game.
| In an ideal world we, as coaches, would have a full squad of players present at training each week, and access to a full-size pitch. Instead, we are tasked with trying to develop players in smaller groups and with minimal space. This workshop will look at how we can work with individuals and small units of players, and put on realistic and relevant practices, transferrable to their game.

Vicky Fisher – Developing Skilful Players Session
| Vicky works across the South-West region as a Coach Developer for the FA. She has a wealth of experience in grassroots football, including coaching every youth age group at some stage, both boys and girls. Vicky’s role focuses on opportunities and development for female coaches. Currently, Vicky coaches a grassroots Women’s team alongside her FA role, and delivers UEFA C and UEFA B courses across the region.
| This workshop focuses on the key elements of core moves & the 6 capabilities. The focus is introducing elements into your sessions that help players and encourage them to be more skilful. By highlighting the practice spectrum and core skills, coaches will have a holistic understanding of developing skilful players along with some practical ideas to take away.
|
Abdoullah Kheir – Benefits of Small Sided Games Workshop
| Abdoullah works for the FA as a Coach Developer, with a focus on diversity and inclusion of coaching within the game. He has worked across several roles in football, including RTCs and grassroots level. Abdoullah delivers UEFA C courses, and his background was primarily working in schools developing the PE curriculum and supporting teachers.
| This workshop is designed for coaches to provide training and guidance on the concept of small-sided games and their benefits. In particular, how can small-sided games develop players attacking and defending skills and meet the differing needs and abilities of players?
|
Andy Lindegaard – Fitness for Football Session Planning Workshop
| Andy is a strength and conditioning expert and former professional footballer for Yeovil Town FC and Cheltenham Town FC. He has a MSc in Sports Strength & Conditioning and experience of working in football academy environments.
| This workshop is designed to develop your knowledge and understanding of strength and conditioning in football and how this links to your session design and planning. An engaging session that will promote injury prevention, performance enhancement, mental preparation, and skill integration for your players. This workshop will give you plenty of session ideas and warm-up activities for all age groups, including take-home resources to help with your session design and planning. |
Analysing Coach Behaviour – Discussion & Learning Workshop | Being able to reflect as a coach is great for development, however it is often the hardest task. As coaches, we organise training sessions and plan for our players. Coach behaviour is always in our control; we know it impacts performance. For example: the added social and emotional implications when working with younger players. Of all the things in the coaching process, we can’t control referees, the weather, the opposition, the mood of our players. In terms of coaching the one thing we can control is ourselves. If we can think about what comes out of our mouths, how we set up practice - all that stuff is under our control. This discussion will look at how we can not only plan sessions to improve our players, but how we can plan to continually improve our own coaching behaviours. |
