Another CPD Event has been arranged by Sheffield Coaches Association, this event is free of charge and will provide Level 1 and 2 coaches with 2 hours CPD for attending.
Please see information below as provided by the coaches association:
Our penultimate Coaching Workshop of 2016 is being delivered by a lifelong "Owl" who made almost 150 first team appearances for the team he has always supported. In addition to his fantastic service to The Owls our guest coach also played for Bury, Halifax Town and Hartlepool United. While at The Owls Academy he captained an England Youth team that beat Brazil 1-0, which had a certain Ronaldinho playing for The Canarinho (Little Canary) football team. Your final clue is that this Steel City Blue has played at every level for the team in S6 and made his Premier League debut against Liverpool at Hillsborough, Wednesday winning 1-0. I'm sure most of you will have realised I am introducing Steven Haslam. Steven returned to SWFC after completing his playing career to begin working in The Owls Academy. Steven is currently Head of Academy Coaching.
Steven's practical topic/theme is based on "transition" i.e. what your team do when you go from defending to attacking or attacking to defending and what you do in the moments following the transition. It is an extremely important factor of today's game. Whether the younger players recognise transition or not it happens at every level of football. Can you help your players deal with this vital aspect of the game??
However Steven is not just dealing with transitions. Along with Chris Hattersley (Head Of Sports Science & Medicine) Steven will deliver an indoor presentation giving an insight into the multi-disciplinary approach to player development at SWFC, with a particular focus on how coaching and sports science departments interact and work together. Steven will conclude the evening, with Chris, with an analysis of the GPS (Global Positioning Systems) data that will have been produced by the Academy players wearing GPS during the practical demonstration. During my extensive time as secretary this aspect has never been covered, thus providing attendees with a look at how the professional game is evolving.
Whichever team your loyalty lies with, can you afford to miss this fantastically interesting topic plus an inside look at how The Owls academy players work and the monitoring of their physical performances through interaction with the Sports Science Department via GPS.
