Referee Promotion Criteria 2016/17
Level 7 Promotion Scheme Eligibility
A Level 7 must officiate as a referee for a minimum of 20 games in one registration period before applying for promotion.
Level 7 – 6
All Level 7 to 6 promotion candidates will be expected to meet the following criteria:
- Attend a Promotion seminar (In-service training) and practical promotion day
- Attend a fitness assessment evening
- Take and pass a written multiple choice examination on the Laws of the Game
- Be part of the Nottingham Saturday Referee Pool
- Keep the Assessor Co-ordinator informed of ALL of your fixtures
- Referee a minimum of 20 (11v11) games during the promotion season
- Respond to all correspondence efficiently and preferably by email
- Receive a minimum of three assessments during the promotion period
Level 6 – 5
All Level 6 – 5 promotion candidates will be expected to meet the following criteria:
- Must have met all of the above criteria
- Must have completed 5 (11v11) matches as assistant referee during the promotion season
Level 5 – 4
All Level 5 – 4 promotion candidates will be expected to meet the following criteria:
- Referee a minimum of 15 (11v11) matches during the promotion season
- Assistant referee a minimum of 5 (11v11) matches during the promotion season
- Be part of the Nottingham Saturday Referee Pool.
- Keep the Assessor Co-ordinator informed of ALL of your fixtures.
- Receive a minimum of 5 assessments during the promotion season
- Attend a fitness assessment evening
- Must pass the standard FA Fitness test
- Must attend a regional in-service training session delivered by the FA*
- Must complete and pass a written multiple choice examination on the Laws of the Game*
- Respond to all correspondence efficiently and preferably by email.
*FA regional in-service training and exam dates, locations will be confirmed by The FA at a later date
In addition to the above all promotion candidates must:
- Re-register by the 1st June
- Respond to all correspondence in writing efficiently and preferably by email
- Maintain a record of all matches, whether Referee or Assistant Referee
- Be proficient in completion of misconduct report writing and attend disciplinary hearings as required
All referees wishing to be considered for promotion must complete and return the Promotion Scheme Application Form to the Referee Development Officer by no later than 1st March.
Please note promotion fees will be used referee registration for the following season if the referee completes the promotion scheme whether succesful or not.
