THE FA REFEREE COURSE
Overview
The FA Referees' Course provides an introduction to officiating mini soccer, 11v11 and 9v9 football. The course will introduce learners to The Laws of the Game and their application, delivered through theory and practical elements focussing on the knowledge, skills and attributes required to operate safely and effectively in grassroots football.

Minimum Age
Learners must be 14 or over on the course start date.
Online Requirements
It is a requirement before you attend face to face training that you have completed the Online Guide to the Laws of the Game and the appropriate online safeguarding course which can be found below.
When completing the Online Modules, please ensure you login in using the FAN of the person completing the course not a parent/carer FAN. If you are unsure of your FAN please get in contact.
Course 1: Online Guide to the Laws of the Game Modules

Please complete all 5 Modules as well as the survey at the bottom of the learning page.

Course 2: Safeguarding Requirements
Referees who are 14/15 years old can
- Complete free 1 hour Safeguarding For All LINK HERE (valid for two years)
All other Referees who are 16+ can
- Complete free 1 hour Safeguarding For All LINK HERE (valid for two years)
OR
- Complete the new Online Safeguarding Children Course (£30) LINK HERE (valid for two years with continual free recertification)
Qualification
Upon successful completion of the Online Guide to the Laws of the Game, the 11 hours face to face course and 5 games, learners will receive a certificate and FA Badge as well as being classified as either a Level Y Referee (if aged 14 or 15) or a Level 7 referee (if aged 16 or above).

Course Venue: Great Yarmouth Town Football Club
Dates: Friday 16th August, 6pm – 9pm and Sunday 18th August, 9am - 3pm
Course Fee: £135
For the Great Yarmouth course we have some funding which has been kindly donated to us by the Great Yarmouth & District Saturday League. For Norfolk Officials, who live in Great Yarmouth and the surrounding area, who book onto the course and complete their 5 matches by the end of January 2025, they will receive £35 of the course fee back.
The Course Fee Includes:
- Includes all training modules
- 1st Season FA Referee Registration
- Norfolk FA Badge
- Green Armband for U18's
- Equipment: red & yellow cards, notebook & pencil, whistle & assistant referee flags
- Opportunity to join 3 New Referee Support Sessions across the season
- Mentor visits
- Promotion opportunities immediately upon qualification
Referee Kit (Shirt, shorts, socks) are not included and will need to be purchased yourself.
