Walking Football Referee Workshop

The FA’s Refereeing Walking Football workshop (3 hours) is designed to equip learners with some of the skills and knowledge required to be able to referee walking football safely and effectively.

The workshop comprises some pre-course learning – we’ll ask you to review some video clips of walking football to give you an understanding of what the game is about and we’ll also ask you to take a look at a simplified version of the Laws of Walking Football.

On the day, you’ll learn some of the basics of refereeing, including how to communicate effectively and recognising what constitutes foul play. You’ll also learn some of the fundamentals of walking football, including defining what running is! Much of your learning will be done on the pitch, where you’ll have the opportunity to manage different set-piece scenarios and referee other learners playing walking football.

Following the workshop, you will have the opportunity to put your learning into practice trough practical experience officiating friendly festival fixtures at our Walking Football Festival.

You do not have to be a qualified referee to attend this workshop.

Date: Sunday 16th September 2018.

Time: 10:00-13:00 workshop followed by 14:00-17:00 practical experience officiating on the walking football festival. Learners will be expected to stay for the duration of the day, 10:00-17:00 with an hours lunch break.

Venue: Middlesex FA, Rectory Park, Ruislip Road, Northolt, Middlesex, UB5 6ED.

Pre-requisites: None – no experience needed.

Content: The workshop will consist of both theory and practical (walking football) so please bring appropriate clothing and suitable footwear for 3G surface (no metal studs or blades and no astroturf trainers).

Festival: Participants will gain practical experience from what they have learnt in the workshop by officiating at a Walking Football Festival this

Please note: This is a pilot workshop from The FA and resources will be provided in temporary formats. Your feedback will help shape the final resources.

Equality: FA Learning will ensure that it treats people fairly and with respect and that it will provide access and opportunities for all members of the community to take part in, and enjoy, it's activities in an atmosphere free from harassment, bullying, discrimination or abuse. FA Learning will seek to provide a service which is appropriate to the needs of an individual and to make reasonable adjustments or provide support, where appropriate, to cater for those needs.

If you suffer from a condition that you believe may affect your involvement on a course on either the practical or theoretical elements, please notify us immediately of any support you may require and we will make every effort to ensure that you are supported throughout the course of delivery and given every opportunity to successfully attain the relevant course award.

Please note - All Courses will be conducted in English and therefore candidates are required to be able to communicate effectively in English (this includes listening, speaking, reading and writing).

Candidates registering for this course who do not meet the English understanding criteria or have not declared a physical disability for which support may be required may be asked to leave the course without refund.  In accepting the terms & conditions of the course you are confirming that you have understood the above.
