Course Description

The FA Equality Workshop is aimed at raising awareness within CFA’s, Leagues, Clubs and Stakeholders to ensure that they are accessible to everyone in the community by developing a greater understanding of the needs of people from different backgrounds e.g. women and girls; disabled people; ethnic minorities and how you can build better links with them in order to help you make the league or clubs more accessible to people from different backgrounds.

Course Duration

  • 3 Hours

Course Aims and Objectives

  • Define key equality terminology in the context of current legislation
  • Recognise the demographics of football and the benefits and barriers to equality
  • State diversity-sensitive language and behaviour
  • Identify unfair, inappropriate and illegal behaviour and state how to challenge and
    report it
  • Recognise the importance of consultation
  • List actions to make football more open and accessible
  • Contribute with greater confidence and knowledge to how your club or organisation should and can embrace Football For All

Course Content (Theory & Practical Assessment)

  • Knowledge of legislation and key terminology e.g. equality, diversity, sports equity and equal opportunities
  • An understanding of the demographics of England and football and the benefits and barriers to equality
  • Knowledge of the most up to date diversity sensitive language and behaviour
  • An appreciation of the experience of belonging to a minority group
  • Understanding of the organisation’s grievance/complaints procedure
  • Recognition of unfair, inappropriate and illegal behaviour and state how to challenge and report it
  • Contacts and networking with external organisations that give guidance and support on equality issues
  • Awareness of importance of consultation and the importance of making your organisation more open and accessible

Equality: FA Learning will ensure that it treats people fairly and with respect and that it will provide access and opportunities for all members of the community to take part in, and enjoy, it's activities in an atmosphere free from harassment, bullying, discrimination or abuse. FA Learning will seek to provide a service which is appropriate to the needs of an individual and to make reasonable adjustments or provide support, where appropriate, to cater for those needs.

This course consists of one session only:

Thursday 18th February 2010    6:30pm - 9:30pm
