Course Information:
- Minimum Age: 16
- Course Duration: 3 hours
- Course Prerequisites: None
- Course aims and objectives:
- To understand the role of the Mentor and principles of effective Mentoring.
- To understand and appreciate the required interpersonal skills of the Mentor.
- To explore strategies for Mentoring a Coach or Teacher.
- To demonstrate the ability to use core Mentoring interpersonal skills (observation, giving accurate feedback, active listening, questioning, and critical reflection).
- To understand Mentoring assessment, feedback and goal setting processes.
- To consider the importance of the Reflective 'think book'.
- To explore CPD and reflective Action Planning opportunities for Mentors to consider their future development.
Course Content:
Theory: The course will introduce some key aspects in the following:
- Skills of an effective learner
- Role of a Football mentor
- Meeting the coach
- Working with the coach
- Feedback and target setting
- The mentor action plan
- Reflective think book
Practical: Practical elements of the course will provide an introduction to:
- Observing the coach in action
Practical Involvement: Candidates will be encouraged to participate practically to maximise their opportunities for learning. (This however will not prevent successful completion of the award)
Assessment: Candidates will be formatively assessed throughout the course.
Refresher: No refresher required.

This course is for Charter Standard Clubs and consists of two sessions :
Tuesday 15th June 2010 6.00pm to 9.00pm
Tuesday 22nd June 2010 6.00pm to 9.00pm
