'Can we have a Game?'

What's the first question the players usually ask when they arrive at your session?......

More often than not, its 'Can we have a game?'

This workshop gives consideration to ways in which we can give the players what they want by making our practices game related game related. The key outcomes include:-

1. What does a game look like to our players? we all have an idea of what a game should look like to us as adults, but do we know how the players see it and what they like most about playing 'a game'? The Coaches will highlight some key factors that young players associate with a game so that we have a better knowledge of what our players want from our practices.

2. Simple methods to make our sessions look more like a game - Based on what we know about why players want to play a game and why it is the most enjoyable aspect of training to them, we will look at how we can make simple changes to our planning and delivery so that our practices look as much like a game as possible.

3. Benefits of game related Practice - based on research, the nearer our practices are to the game the more transferrable these skills and decisions will be to when the players are playing their matches at the weekend. The workshop will look at some of the key findings from research and suggest the impact game related practices can have on improving our players.
