London FA Grassroots Development Day

London FA is pleased to announce a great event for anyone involved in grassroots football in London – Grassroots Development Day.  Taking place on 22nd June at The Valley, home of Charlton Athletic FC, the day will consist of a choice of interactive workshops:

Workshop 1 – Coaching transitions in youth football

Youth players go through a number of different formats of the game as they get older.  This workshop will give you tips on how to coach through these transitions and include ideas of how to link the different formats to encourage player long term development.

This workshop will be CPD accredited for FA Licensed Coaches Club members.

Workshop 2 – Raise the profile of your club

Attracting sponsorship, attracting new players, raising the profile of your club and improving its image – all of these can be achieved through effective marketing….but how do you market your club without a budget?  This workshop will tell you how by using tips from sports marketing experts and giving practical advice that you can easily implement within your club.  Have a specific question you need answering?  Then you can tweet them ahead of the event. Send your tweets to @iamluca and/or @suthersuk and they will answer a handful of them at the workshop.

Workshop 3 – Recruiting and managing volunteers

Grassroots football relies heavily on volunteers so how do you make sure the best ones come to your club?  And once you’ve found a good volunteer, how do you make sure they stay with you?  Plus, how do you manage difficult volunteers?  This workshop will answer all these questions and more as we help you get the best out of London’s volunteers.

Workshop 4 – How to coach disabled people in sport

Suitable for all coaches, this workshop aims to answer the commonly asked questions about disabled sports participants and it will show you how, with a few minor adjustments to the way you work, you can make your coaching more inclusive and effective.  You will learn how to include disabled people in sport and select appropriate coaching activities.

The price to attend Grassroots Development Day is just £10, which covers the workshops and a buffet lunch.
