Course Aims and Objectives

To provide candidates who have an on-going involvement in coaching football with an opportunity to improve their knowledge and confidence in coaching the 5-21 year age group.

 Course Description

The final module in The FA Youth Award Developing the Player continues the progressive change in coaching philosophy. Complementing the knowledge learnt on the preceding modules, this course teaches coaches to have a truly player-centred approach to the coaching and development of young players. The course comprises both practical and theory sessions.

 Course Content

Theory:
The course will introduce some key aspects in the following:

  • Practice and multiple outcomes
  • 'What the players say'
  • Coaching Styles and Intervention Strategies
  • Planning and Design
  • 'What the coaches say'

 

Practical:

This is a practical based course. Different types of practices will be demonstrated and delivered and candidates will be expected to evaluate these practices as well as plan, deliver and evaluate their own practices. Candidates will be encouraged to take part and those not taking part will be expected to build on their evaluating and observation skills.

Course Pre-requisites:

 

 

  • Must be a member of the current FA Licensed Coaches’ Club

AND

  • Hold a valid 1st4sport Level 2 CCF or higher (which includes a current FA Emergency Aid and a current FA Safeguarding Children in Football workshop certificate) together with a valid FA Youth Award Module 1 and 2 Certificate.

Or

  • UEFA B Licence and The FA Youth Coaches Course

Or

  • UEFA B and FA Goalkeeping B Licence
