Course Information:

  • Course Duration: Minimum of 9 Guided Learning Hours

  • Who is it for: This course is open to anyone who is interested in officiating mini soccer football up to but not including 9v9
  • Course aims and objectives: The MSR course provides participants with an insight into the ethos of mini soccer, the laws of the game and their role in helping young people enjoy and learn about the game.
  • Leading to: Mini Soccer Referee Status (MSR)

Course Content:

The course consists of 3 modules with the following elements:

  • Understanding your role in mini soccer – this offers an introduction to the course, considers the ethos of mini soccer and highlights the roles and responsibilities of the referee.
  • Developing your role – this is a practical element of the course looking at health and safety issues, applying law and demonstrating referee techniques and skills.
  • The Realities of your role – in this session we cover the practicalities of managing the game and players and controlling different game situations
  • Your role as an educator – this session looks at the role of the referee as an educator and offers trainees an opportunity to develop an action plan.
  • Officiating 3 games of mini soccer

Either the Safeguarding Football on line learning resource or where applicable the workshop will be completed. A DBS check will be instigated during the course, where applicable.

Practical Involvement: Candidates are encouraged to participate practically to maximise their opportunities for learning. (This however will not prevent successful completion of the award)

Assessment: Assessment is via successful completing the Assessment of Knowledge (theory & practical) in module 3.

 Mini Soccer Referee Courses

This course is designed for those who do not wish to go through the basic referees 11v11 course yet, but would like to concentrate solely on officiating on mini-soccer. You can look to become a 11-a-side referee using our conversion course which information will be available from our website and from our tutors during the course. 

The initial Four Units will be as follows:

Understanding your role in Mini Soccer – outlining the background to the game and the important role you play as referee within it.

Developing your role – helping to create a safe learning environment and considering the practical applications of the laws

The realities of the role – considering the need to deal with players, parents and coaches and the general management of the game

Your role as an educator – considering how to educate players as well as refereeing the game

Wednesday 15th February 2017 – 18.30- 21.30 – Classroom only

Wednesday 22nd February 2017 – 09.30-16.30 – Classroom and 3g Practical training

 

 
Following this you will then go out and officiate three games of Mini Soccer before returning for a fifth unit to review your role and become registered as a Mini Soccer referee with the County FA after successful approval. The final session is noted below:

PLEASE NOTE: This course will only qualify you for Mini-Soccer. You will not be a registered 11v11 referee. Should you wish to go into 11v11 football after completing this course, there will be a bolt-on conversion course option available for those who want to be able to referee 9v9 or 11v11 games. More information will provided during the course about this. 



The course costs £95.00 which includes enrolling onto a Safeguarding Children Workshop if applicable.


Please note, if you are 16 years old or over on or before the date of the examination and the training games, you will need to complete an FA CRC check for £10 (volunteer fee). (This is paid to Online Disclosures who provide FA CRC Checks). Failure to complete this will prevent you being registered and completing the training matches. You would also be required to complete a Safeguarding Children Workshop (SCW). There is a list of available Safeguarding Children Workshops (SCW) on our website or contact a member of staff on your course for more information. Ensure that you speak to a member of BCFA staff so they can enrol you onto an appropriate course and confirm your place.

Terms and Conditions for booking a course:


Unfortunately due to an increasing number of candidates cancelling at late notice, it is with regret that we have had to make changes to our booking policy. Therefore the Birmingham County FA has introduced a strict cancellation and transfer policy. Should a candidate or candidates need to cancel their place on a course for any reason, the following criteria will apply:

Should a candidate or candidates wish to cancel their attendance on the course, candidates must inform Birmingham County FA immediately. All our courses are in demand and by not advising us you are preventing another candidate from attending.

Cancellation:

Should a candidate need to cancel their place on a course for any reason, the following criteria will apply:

-       14 days or more notice – Full refund less a £10 administration charge.

-       Less than 14 days’ notice – No refund will be given.

To book onto a future course, the candidate will need to enrol again with full payment.

Transfer:

The Birmingham County FA do not have a transfer policy. If a candidate is booked onto a course, their place is confirmed for that course alone. If they would like to cancel their place, they will need to do this following the “cancellation” policy. To book onto a future course, the candidate will need to enrol again with full payment.

Missed Sessions:

If a candidate cannot make a date on the course they are enrolled on, a decision will be made on whether they are allowed to complete the course on a case by case basis. If the reason is deemed appropriate, a fee of £20 per session missed will need to be paid to complete the course. This will be at the discretion of the County FA.

Birmingham County FA does not accept any responsibility for the loss, or damage to, candidate property or for personal injury, however caused.

You will respect the course tutor, course venue and other candidates and their points of view and you will understand that if your behaviour, language or conduct is deemed ‘unacceptable’ ‘offensive’ or ‘harmful’ for any reason, Birmingham County FA reserves the right to exclude you from continuing on your chosen course and if necessary, future courses.
