Course Information:

  • Minimum Age: 16
  • Course Duration: Maximum 32 hours
  • Course Prerequisites: None
  • Course aims and objectives: This course will provide an introduction to the organisation and delivery of safe and enjoyable coaching sessions for young players. It is ideally suited to those working with groups of young players and/or teams.

Course Content:

Theory: The course will introduce some key aspects in the following:

  • Football Club Administration
  • Player and Coach development
  • Soccer Parent
  • Laws of the Game
  • An introduction to the FA's Long Term Player Development Model

 

The course will also provide the following for candidates:

 

  • FA Emergency Aid (included in the course programme)
  • FA Safeguarding Children in Football (included in the course programme)

 

Practical: Practical elements of the course will provide an introduction to:

 

  • Warm up and cool down game related activities
  • Passing and control
  • Turning with the ball
  • Dribbling
  • Shooting
  • Heading
  • Goalkeeping
  • Individual Attacking
  • Individual Defending
  • Small sided games

Practical Involvement: Candidates will be encouraged to participate practically to maximise their opportunities for learning. (This however will not prevent successful completion of the award)

Assessment: Assessment is via successful completion of:

1. The FA Safeguarding Children Workshop and The FA Emergency Aid Certificate
2. All portfolio tasks
3. Practical delivery of a 20 minute practical coaching activity based on a specific skill and age group, which demonstrates safe practice, organisation, enjoyment and progression to meet the needs of the players.

Re-assessment: Candidates can be reassessed within a 12 month period from registration on the course.

Refresher: Every 3 years as specified in the FAL Level 1 CPD and Refresher Policy.

BCFA Charter Standard Club cost: £140

Non-Charter Standard Club cost: £150

*Note: If you pay the Charter Standard Club cost, please be truthful as we do check that you are a member of the club you name. If confirmed you are not a part of the club, Birmingham County FA reserves the right to cancel your place on the course without a refund. 

 

The course content will entail theory and practical, which will be held outdoors on the 3G or grass pitch. Please wear kit that is appropriate and comfortable as well as footwear. If you are under the age of 18 you must wear shin pads during the practical sessions. If you are over the age of 18, it will be at your own risk if they wish not to wear shin pads during practical sessions.

You will also need a pen and notepad for the theory sessions.

Please bring your own lunch and fluids throughout the duration of the course.

Refresher: Emergency First Aid and Safeguarding qualifications must be renewed every 3 years.

Terms and Conditions for booking a course:

Unfortunately due to an increasing number of candidates cancelling at late notice, it is with regret that we have had to make changes to our booking policy. Therefore the Birmingham County FA has introduced a strict cancellation and transfer policy. Should a candidate or candidates need to cancel their place on a course for any reason, the following criteria will apply:

Should a candidate or candidates wish to cancel their attendance on the course, candidates must inform Birmingham County FA immediately. All our courses are in demand and by not advising us you are preventing another candidate from attending.

 

Cancellation:

Should a candidate need to cancel their place on a course for any reason, the following criteria will apply:

-       14 days or more notice – Full refund less a £10 administration charge.

-       Less than 14 days’ notice – No refund will be given.

To book onto a future course, the candidate will need to enrol again with full payment.

 

Transfer:

The Birmingham County FA do not have a transfer policy. If a candidate is booked onto a course, their place is confirmed for that course alone. If they would like to cancel their place, they will need to do this following the “cancellation” policy. To book onto a future course, the candidate will need to enrol again with full payment.

 

Missed Sessions:

If a candidate cannot make a date on the course they are enrolled on, a decision will be made on whether they are allowed to complete the course on a case by case basis. If the reason is deemed appropriate, a fee of £20 per session missed will need to be paid to complete the course (subject to availability). This will be at the discretion of the County FA.

*Note: If the sessions missed are either the Safeguarding Children Workshop or Emergency First Aid, a fee of £30 per course will need to be paid to attend these aspects.

 

Birmingham County FA does not accept any responsibility for the loss, or damage to, candidate property or for personal injury, however caused.

You will respect the course tutor, course venue and other candidates and their points of view and you will understand that if your behaviour, language or conduct is deemed ‘unacceptable’ ‘offensive’ or ‘harmful’ for any reason, Birmingham County FA reserves the right to exclude you from continuing on your chosen course and if necessary, future courses.
