Player Care Series: Supporting Injury Prevention & Physical Development Through Your Coaching
As coaches, we all want players who are available, confident and able to perform at their best. While injuries can't always be prevented, coaches play a significant role in creating environments that support player wellbeing, reduce avoidable injury risk and help players develop physically throughout their football journey.
Join our first Player Care Series workshop, delivered by Andrew Smith, qualified Strength & Conditioning coach (Employed at Reading FC, Wycombe Wanderers and Moneyfields FC) and Coach Development Officer Chris Berry, as we explore how simple coaching behaviours and session design principles can positively impact player availability and long-term development.
This practical and engaging workshop will help coaches understand:
- Common factors that influence injury risk in youth football.
- How growth and maturation can affect physical performance and wellbeing.
- What coaches can realistically influence before, during and after training.
- How to integrate physical development opportunities into football practices.
- Practical strategies to develop more robust, athletic and resilient players.
Whether you're working with foundation phase, youth or adult players, you'll leave with practical ideas that can be applied immediately within your own coaching environment.
Suitable for
All grassroots football coaches working with youth and adult players.
