Course Description

This course is designed to provide training for those currently registered as 11 a side referees planning to referee Futsal and will focus on the following key areas;

- Understanding the difference between Futsal and the 11 a side game
- Understanding the laws of Futsal and their practical application
- The realities of your role – dealing with practical situations including misconduct
- Putting your skills and knowledge into practise by refereeing some games

It is anticipated that the majority of learning will be facilitated in a practical environment.

Course Aims and Objectives

To provide learners with an introduction to refereeing Futsal, identifying the skills required to effectively referee games of Futsal. Following the initial training the candidates will be expected to referee a minimum of six games before returning for a review session during which their knowledge of Law will be assessed.

Course Content

Unit One

- Differences between Futsal and the 11 a side game (3 GLH’s)
- Introduction to the course
- The ethos of Futsal
- Practical application of different laws
- The next steps

Practical Experience (Over 1 – 3 month period 6 NLH’s)

- Refereeing a minimum of six games
- Putting theory into practice

Unit Two

- Reviewing your role as a Referee (3 GLH’s)
- Opportunity to reflect on previous learning and experience
- Examination to confirm competence to qualify as a Futsal Referee

Practical Involvement: Candidates will be encouraged to participate practically to maximise their opportunities for learning (The qualification cannot be completed unless the six games are officiated).

Course Pre-requisites

Prior to certification, candidates are required to:

- Be an existing 11 a side referee at level 8-1

Futsal has become a fast growing sport in the UK after adopting it from our South American friends (better late than never). With centres and leagues popping up all over the country, we are in search for referees to officiate in games.

This conversion course is suitable for affiliated referees involved in the 11v11 format who want to build upon their skills and try something new.

The content of this course will be as follows:

  • Build on the basis of practical refereeing and transferring to a Futsal pitch
  • Learn the laws that are specific to Futsal
  • Practically assess the learnt laws

The course will be practical and all candidates will be expected to participate in the sessions.

This is a one day courses - times 0900-1700 inclusive.

CANCELLATION POLICY
If you need to cancel your attendance on the course you should inform the RNFA immediately. 
On receipt of notice of cancellation from each individual, the following refund policies will apply:

  • Cancellation notice of 60 days or more will warrant a full refund (minus a £5.00 administration fee);
  • Cancellation notice of less than 59 days but more than 30 days will warrant a 75% refund (minus an additional £5.00 administration fee).
  • Cancellation of less than 29 days but more than 7 days will warrant a 50% refund (minus an additional £5.00 administration fee).
  • If you cancel your booking less than 7 days before the scheduled start date of the Course, you will not be entitled to a refund.
  • Failure to attend a course with no contact with the RNFA will result in no entitlement to a refund.

All cases of cancellation will be reviewd at the discretion of the RNFA, with exceptional circumstances considered in all cases.
