2015 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Convention
Following the success of a similar visit to the NSCAA Convention in 2014, The FA Licensed Coaches’ Club will undertake a further study visit to the NSCAA Convention in Philadelphia, PA USA to observe, record and report on some of the latest developments in coaching from across the world in January 2015. A group of 20 coaches from across the various levels of the game in England will have the opportunity to attend the Convention and benefit from a bespoke programme that will include additional meetings with NSCAA and US Youth Soccer, private seminars and workshops with some of the leading practitioners at the event. Speakers are still to be confirmed at the event, and following their announcement these will appear on this page.
In addition to the group events and the scheduled programme of the Convention the study group will also undertake a visit to a professional sports team in Philadelphia and gain an insight into coaching, player development and elite performance in one of the major sports of the city – basketball, ice hockey, soccer or American football. The study group members will compile a number of reports of the trip and will publish a series of articles, blogs and video diaries that will be shared and published through the FA Licensed Coaches’ Club website, The Boot Room publication and the NSCAA website (NSCAA.com).
This opportunity will allow coaches to recognise developments in coaching practice and how the FA coaching pathway and CPD opportunities can supplement coach development in England.
The visit will be led and coordinated by Tony McCallum, Senior Regional Coach Development Manager (SE). Tony will be on hand throughout the visit to lead and guide on session appropriateness, and to facilitate learning to ensure that coaches maximise the benefit of attendance.
Following the groups attendance in 2014, 2 of the group have been asked to present at the Convention in 2015!
