The FA Performance
Education programme looks to provide modern theoretical and practical techniques
and knowledge within Psychology, Sports Medicine and Sports
Science.

Psychology: |
The FA Psychology
Awards are relevant for all individuals working within football from coaches,
teachers and parents at grassroots level to scientists, physiotherapists and
doctors at professional level.
Levels 2 - 4 are open entry courses with
course pre-requisites set as guidelines only, Level 5 has set pre-requisites
which must be adhered to.
Level 2 - Talent Development: looking at what
it takes to develop expertise in players and how you can best support this
process.
Level 3 - Mental Toughness: Providing you with a toolbox to help
your players stay motivated, focused and confident under pressure.
Level
4 - Mental Skills on the Pitch: looking at taking mental skills out onto the
pitch, this is both theoretical and practical.
Level 5 - Advanced Team
Preparation: following the Pro-Licence format, workshops focus on some of the
key psychological issues surrounding team management and preparation.

Sports
Medicine: |
The FA Medical
Department has developed a suite of fit for purpose courses for all individuals
at all levels, courses that will enable the pitchside first aider to develop the
appropriate skills and knowledge. All of the courses in the pathway have set
course pre-requisites which must be adhered to.
The FA Emergency Aid (EA)
and Basic First Aid for Sport (BFAS) courses are available to book through local
County FA's.
The FA Intermediate First Aid for Sport (IFAS) is a
programme for healthcare professionals who are responsible for the pre-hospital
management of individuals in a sports environment and particularly for
practitioners who may be working in isolation without immediate access to
medical support and first aid provision.
The Advanced Resuscitation and
Emergency Aid (AREA) is designed to address the needs of doctors and
physiotherapists who are primarily responsible for the pre-hospital management
of the acutely injured/ill athlete in a sports environment.
MSc /
Postgraduate Diploma - Exercise and Sports Medicine (Football), this innovative
programme has been developed by The FA and the University of Birmingham. It
enables exploration of the theoretical basis of exercise and sports medicine in
general and football in particular, and it's application to the development of a
physiotherapists and doctor's clinical reasoning.

Sports Science: |
The FA Physical
Performance Pathway is specifically designed for individuals with an interest in
the physical preparation of football players; the pathway aims to provide
candidates with the requisite theoretical and practical knowledge to support the
delivery of physical conditioning programmes within grass roots and professional
football.
Launching throughout 2014 and onwards, the pathway will range
from a Level 1 Award to a Level 5 Award. Entry onto each award is subject to any
necessary pre-requisites.
The FA / ISAK Kinanthropometry for Football
awards teach a standardised approach towards the making of anthropometric
measurements and also tackles contemporary issues in the application of these
recordings in affecting player management.
Whilst the awards have obvious
application for Sports Science and Fitness Coaches, the awards are highly
relevant for Performance Nutritionists, Physiotherapists and also
Doctors.

Masterclasses: |
The FA Performance
Education team are proud to deliver a series of Masterclasses throughout the
season. They are aimed at a variety of individuals within performance services
and beyond.
The FA has sought out leading experts from around the world
and invited them to speak on their area of speciality. They will cover current
issues, latest evidence, important advances, case studies, share best practice
and promote interaction amongst experts and clinicians.
