Course Overview:

The UEFA Goalkeeping A Licence is aimed at specialist goalkeeping coaches who are currently working with senior professional goalkeepers on a full time basis within a Premier League or Football League club. The course will look at the demands of the modern game which included physical preparation, diet and nutrition, psychology and management techniques.
 
 Course pre-requisites:
 
 Candidates must hold both the:
  
  • The UEFA B Coaching Licence
  • The FA Goalkeeping Coaching B licence
  
Candidates must also be working with professional Goalkeepers within the professional game.

The role of the goalkeeper coach
The profile of the goalkeeper coach

Managing the goalkeeper coaches environment
Advanced physical preparation of the goalkeeper
Periodization/Planning
Mental preparation of goalkeepers
Stress management of goalkeepers
The goalkeeping staff working with other staff
Training styles/Decision making
Individual/Team planning

Practical demonstrations include:

Advanced technical training
Coaching in the game
Developing the goalkeeper’s role: Attack/Defence/Transition
Conditioning for goalkeepers
Fitness Testing for goalkeepers
Defending set pieces

Selection Criteria:

In line with the UEFA guidelines, the course will only be open to holders of the UEFA B Coaching Licence and the FA Goalkeeping B Licence who :

  • Work Full Time within the Premier League / Football League with Senior Professional Goalkeepers, or Goalkeeping Coaches who work within the FA International Teams Programme.

  • Consideration will also be given to coaches who are Lead Academy Goalkeeping Coaches (17-21) within the EPPP programme, and have been awarded the FA Advanced Youth Award (Goalkeeping 17-21)

  • In the event of there still being places available, consideration will also be given to Lead Academy Goalkeeping Coaches who have enrolled on, but not yet completed the FA Advanced Youth Award (Goalkeeping 17-21).

  • In the event of there still being places available, consideration will then be given to Lead Academy Goalkeeping Coaches who have not yet attended the FA Advanced Youth Award (Goalkeeping 17-21).

Course Assessment:

A practical club site assessment and completion of the logbook/portfolio
 
 

Dress code:

Standard dress code on the course is casual. For practically based courses, please bring sufficient outdoor kit/clothing for the duration of the course. The venue ask that candidates refrain from wearing muddy footwear inside the building.

Should the course require any alternative dress, this will be detailed in the course joining instructions. 

Medical information/physical requirements:

If you have any medical conditions which limit/hinder your involvement or participation in coaching activities, you are obliged to declare any relevant, current or previous injuries/illnesses. If you are diagnosed as an asthmatic, diabetic or epileptic, or have any allergies that the course staff needs to be aware of, you must advise us accordingly. Please note, a declaration of injury or illness does not automatically preclude you from any course.

You should further be aware that if you are on a regular course of medication for any condition, you must have sufficient medication to cover you throughout the course. Although first aid cover is provided (where applicable) during courses, no doctor is available to replenish regular medication, nor is there any facility to deliver medical treatment for chronic (longstanding) medical conditions.

Please provide any relevant information regarding the above Medical Information during the application process.

If your application to enrol is successful learners will be required to complete a Medical Form prior to commencing the course.

Practical Information:

Please note that if a learner has a disability that may prevent them participating actively in the practical sessions, then this should be made known to the course organiser at the point of registration. The course organiser will then take any necessary steps to cater for the learners requirements which may include bringing in footballers to ensure there are sufficient numbers of players.


Filming and photography:

Please be aware that filming and photography of our courses and learners may take place as part of the course delivery.

Your application will then be vetted by the Course Director and a payment link will sent to you via email if you are successful in your application. Your place on the course will not be guaranteed until payment has been made.
