Course Overview:

The FA UEFA A is the highest practical coaching award available and builds on the technical and tactical content covered in The FA Level 3 (UEFA B). In addition this course will focus extensively on the effective application of the principles of play in the 11 v 11 game and the development of specialist individual roles within the team.

Course pre-requisites:

Have completed The FA Level 3 (UEFA B) in Coaching Football qualification (or equivalent)

Note: The FA UEFA A Preparatory Course is no longer a pre-requisite and FA Education will not deliver this course anymore.

Learners are required to complete an online application form and submit the following documents to education@thefa.com within seven working days of their application:

Coaching CV
Evidence of achievement at UEFA B (certificate, UEFA B action plan optional)
Where appropriate provide their Individual Coach Development Plan

Any additional letters of recommendation from appropriate personnel (this could include FA Youth Coach Developers, FA National Coach Developers, the PFA, Academy Managers, Heads of Coaching etc.) are welcome. The Learner will also need to provide a copy of their individual coach development plan (Where Appropriate).

Providing the application proves successful, the learner will need to complete a pre-course task and an initial self-assessment.

Priority will be given to coaches who are living and working in England. During the selection process priority will then be given to full-time coaches within the senior professional male and female game, then to those who need the qualification as part of EPPP requirements. Part time academy coaches will be considered also based on their current situation, and to full time coaches outside the professional game. FA staff will be considered if the qualification is relevant to their role. Overseas coaches will be considered if places are available.

Who is it for?:

The course is for coaches working within or aspiring to work within the professional game in senior (21+) and or youth development (5-21) environments.

Course content:

The following aspects will be included in the course curriculum:

In possession phases

Course Assessment:

The course will run over six blocks of three days (18 days in total) with a minimum of three in-situ support days, but ideally an in-situ support day between each of the blocks of work. The blocks will be approximately 4-6 weeks apart, to allow times for the in-situ support day to take place. The learner will be assessed against a competency framework at level 4 on an on-going basis.

Please note that learners will need to gain access to 11v11 if not already at some point during the course.
