Course pre-requisites:
UEFA B Licence + The FA UEFA A Licence Preparatory Course (within the last three years i.e. Prep in 2013/14 for a Part 1 in 2014, 2015 or 2016). Must be a Senior Professional with at least 5 years experience.

Candidates are required to submit their footballing CV and their FA UEFA B Action Plan as part of their course application. Candidates are also required to submit a letter from their club confirming the candidate will be given access to coaching with the appropriate age groups and a commitment to attending the course dates. All paperwork must be submitted within 10 working days of making the application to Education@thefa.com.

The vetting process will commence on 22nd February and all applicants (successful and unsuccessful) will be contacted the week commencing 29th February 2016.
           
* Priority during the vetting process will be given to applicants who are working and based in England. Once this has been done and if places are available it will then be possible to consider applicants who are based elsewhere.
Who is it for?:


For coaches who are, or who intend to be working in 11v11 football within the international, professional, semi professional and elite girls or youth programmes. Candidates are strongly advised to ensure they will have access to sufficient players to practice 11v11 sessions between Part 1 and Part 2.

* Please note: The FA UEFA A Part 1 and 2 for Senior Professional Players Course is for current or previous full international players, including women’s senior team or full professional contract players with a minimum of five years experience. Subject to interest, applications from professional footballers with less then five years experience may not be considered.

Course content:
The following aspects will be included in the course curriculum: 

Part 1:

  • Attacking from set plays (corner, free kick, throw in)
  • Development of possession and effective movement: possessions, playing out from back three.
  • Tactical use of possession
  • Development of quick inter passing and quick attacking play
  • Counter attacking
  • Coach wingers how, where and when to receive the ball
  • Crossing and finishing
  • Defending deep with a back three
  • Defending deep with a back four
  • Defending with a back three
  • Pressing
  • Transition
  • Goalkeeping
  • Fitness
Pre-course task:
To be sent out by email one month before the course start date, and completed in advance of Day 1.

Post-course task:
Theory logbook work and logged practical coaching hours. Aided by the 12 UEFA A Licence national Support Workshops that are included in the course fee.
Course Assessment


Assessment is via successful completion of:

  • All candidate learning activities
The practical delivery of themed coaching session, utilising formats from the course syllabus in both a phase-of-play or small-sided, and then 11v11 practices 
 
Dress code:
Standard dress code on the course is casual. For practically based courses, please bring sufficient outdoor kit/clothing for the duration of the course. The venue ask that candidates refrain from wearing muddy footwear inside the building.

Should the course require any alternative dress, this will be detailed in the course joining instructions.
Medical information/physical requirements:
If you have any medical conditions which limit/hinder your involvement or participation in coaching activities, you are obliged to declare any relevant, current or previous injuries/illnesses. If you are diagnosed as an asthmatic, diabetic or epileptic, or have any allergies that the course staff needs to be aware of, you must advise us accordingly. Please note, a declaration of injury or illness does not automatically preclude you from any course.

You should further be aware that if you are on a regular course of medication for any condition, you must have sufficient medication to cover you throughout the course. Although first aid cover is provided (where applicable) during courses, no doctor is available to replenish regular medication, nor is there any facility to deliver medical treatment for chronic (longstanding) medical conditions.

Please provide any relevant information regarding the above Medical Information during the application process.

If your application to enrol is successful candidates will be required to complete a Medical Form prior to commencing the course.
Practical Information:
Please note that if a student has a disability that may prevent them participating actively in the practical sessions, then this should be made known to the course organiser at the point of registration. The course organiser will then take any necessary steps to cater for the students requirements which may include bringing in footballers to ensure there are sufficient numbers of players.
