Course Information

Course Duration: 3 days Residential

Course Dates: 19th - 21st April 2010

Course Prerequisites: There are no definitive prerequisites for Psychology for Football Level 2 and acceptance onto the course is subject to FA Learning approval. The following guidelines are for learners to determine which level is most suitable for their coaching/academic background:

Current holder or have enrolled to attend Psychology Level 1 (online version)

Course aims and objectives: The course focus will generally be young players 5-14 and learning and development issues.

Candidates will be those surrounding players, i.e. coaches, parents, teachers, sports scientists, physiotherapists and doctors who work in and around football at all levels.

Three units of work underpin levels 1 and 2, namely psychological development, learning and skill development, and social/environmental factors.

Assessment / Verification: Assessment is via successful completion of all workshop tasks and exercises conducted through the course.

Practical Involvement:

Students maybe required to participate in practical sessions. Students should come prepared and be physically fit when arriving on the course.

Please note that if a student has a disability that may prevent them participating actively in the practical sessions, then this should be made known to the course organiser at the point of registration. The course organiser will then take any necessary steps to cater for the student's requirements which may include bringing in footballers to ensure there are sufficient numbers of players.
