Course pre-requisites: Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, must be a non EU resident and have either:

  • Coaching experience, or first class playing experience
  • Hold a coaching qualification from your home association, or be a qualified teacher

Course content: The following practical aspects will be included in the course curriculum:

  • The learning and coaching process
  • Match analysis
  • Coaching demonstrations by senior members of The FA Technical Department
  • Coaching practice
  • Football fitness and football psychology
  • Emergency aid and aspects of first aid
  • Health and safety
  • Growing up: youth players and football
  • Attitudes and ethics
  • Laws of the game
  • Visit to a Barclays Premier League match
  • Visit to a Premier League club's youth academy

Course assessment: A certificate of attendance is awarded on course completion and candidates will also deliver an assessed session to see whether they achieve a Foundation, Intermediate or Advanced level certificate. Candidates will also be given an action plan to assist them with their future development.

Practical Information: Please note that if a student has a disability that may prevent them participating actively in the practical sessions, then this should be made known to the course organiser at the point of registration. The course organiser will then take any necessary steps to cater for the students requirements which may include bringing in footballers to ensure there are sufficient numbers of players.
