Interest in the subject, and access to a population group who require measurement.

Who is it for?: |
ISAK Level 1 is ideal for individuals that are engaging in academic activities requiring basic anthropometrical assessment.
Additionally it would assist physiotherapists, nutritionists and health professionals to offer this as part of their client profiling.

Course content: |
ISAK Level 1
The time requirement for an ISAK level 1 course is a total of 60 hours.
The lecturer-directed learning element of the course will run for 3 days and involves a series of lectures (approx. 4 hours) and practical sessions (approximately 18 hours).
The practical sessions will teach measurements of stretch stature, weight, breadths, girths and skinfolds to an internationally agreed protocol. Following this there will be supervised practice of measurements on one another.

Post-course task: |
Completion of 20 post-course profiles within a 4 month period from the final day of the course.

Course assessment: |
On day 3 you will be assessed in the measurement of 3 volunteer subjects.
You will be assessed for intra-tester reliability (how repeateable your own measures are) and inter-tester reliability (how accurate you are compared with criterion measures).

Re-assessment: |
The qualification is valid for a period of 4 years and 4 months form the date on the certificate.

Where to go next?: |
ISAK Level 2 is the next level of accreditation and can begin a minimum of 6 months after all level 1 criteria have been met.
|
|
Dress code: |
Standard dress code on the course is casual.
As the course requires participation, please ensure that you bring with you to wear suitable clothing i.e. shorts and vest top. It is importantthat you waer clothing that is not too thick as this can seriously affect the accuracy of your girth measurements.
Should the course require any alternative dress, this will be detailed in the course joining instructions.

Medical information/physical requirements: |
If you have any medical conditions which limit/hinder your involvement or participation in activities, you are obliged to declare any relevant, current or previous injuries/illnesses. If you are diagnosed as an asthmatic, diabetic or epileptic, or have any allergies that the course staff needs to be aware of, you must advise us accordingly. Please note, a declaration of injury or illness does not automatically preclude you from any course.
You should further be aware that if you are on a regular course of medication for any condition, you must have sufficient medication to cover you throughout the course. Although first aid cover is provided (where applicable) during courses, no doctor is available to replenish regular medication, nor is there any facility to deliver medical treatment for chronic (longstanding) medical conditions.

If your application to enrol is successful candidates will be required to complete a Medical Form prior to commencing the course.
The nature of the ISAK course involves active participation in measurement, so all students must be prepared to measure and be measured.

Please note that if a student has a disability that may prevent them participating actively in the practical sessions, then this should be made known to the course organiser at the point of registration. The course organiser will then take any necessary steps to cater for the students requirements.

Coaches or Medics working exclusively in Academies/Centres of Excellence at Football League clubs may be able to access funding through their club. If your club is providing this funding, please email FALearningSupport@TheFA.com with the following details:

We will then verify this with your Academy/CoE Manager/Administrator before enrolling you on the course. Please ensure you have authorisation from the club before sending this email.

Enrolment: |
This course operates an "open" enrolment system. To enrol on this course, please sign in below with your FA Number and Password. In order to enrol on this course, candidates must meet the course pre-requisites specified in the above description.
Once you have reserved your place, FA Learning will then check your pre-requisites. If we find evidence that you do not hold the necessary pre-requisites for the course, we will contact you via email (if no contact is made you may presume your course enrolment has been successful).
Once you have enrolled, FA Learning will then check your pre-requisites. In the event that we are not able to find a record of you holding the specified pre-requisites, we will contact you for verification. At this stage, candidates who do not meet the pre-requisites will have their place cancelled and a full refund issued.
